When I was a little girl I used to make my friends (and my little brother) play school with me. Not because I liked school (ha!), but because I loved paper so much. Other girls my age liked barbie dolls, and dress up clothes and I wanted all the left over junk mail so I could “file” it in my desk drawer (after covering it in crayon and stickers, of course). As I grew into a teen I was convinced I was not good at art and it wasn’t until much later in life that I discovered my love for paper (and fabric and ribbon and paint) was still there. Now I can’t imagine a day going by without making something or painting something or sketching something. And I love expressing my faith through my art.Above you’ll find a mix of some of my favorite art journals, junk journals, faith journals, collage pieces and sketchbooks. Little pieces of my heart all wrapped up in paper and some of it covered in crayon and stickers just like the old days. ♥

About Me
I'm Melissa Ohslon, a mixed-media artist making art in my small Texas town. I love to combine vintage fabric, papers and inks to create playful, faith-affirming artist books, journals and mixed-media collage. Each piece I create is a record of my journey as a wife, mother, artist and believer. But more than that, it's a love letter to God, the original artist. When I'm not in my studio you can find me thrifting for old junk to turn in to art, having fun with my family or searching for the perfect Tex-Mex restaurant (someone has to do it).To learn more or collaborate, find me at one of the spots below and let's connect!
